Dufferin County Council has approved a motion to provide subsidy funding for the Grey County Transit Route 2, running between Shelburne and Orangeville, in the amount of $15,000 on a month-to-month basis for up to four months.

The Grey Transit Route (GTR) is a rural transit service managed by Grey County and operated under a contract with Driverseat Owen Sound. Since September 2020, the Grey Transit Route has been operating a 10-passenger van between Owen Sound and the GO station in Orangeville five days per week, four return trips per day.

Recently, the Highway 10 route between Dundalk and the Orangeville GO station has been operating above capacity, preventing some Grey County residents from using the service when they need it. This funding from Dufferin County will allow a 10-passenger vehicle to continue to serve the Shelburne to Orangeville run exclusively on Grey County Transit Route 2.
