In certain circumstances, the County of Dufferin will consider making an exemption for additional bags of garbage.

Below you will find the following exemption forms:

Application or Diaper Exemption – For residents who have 2 or more infants/children under the age of 4 that are in diapers. This application must be completed every 6 months for continued service.
Bag Limit Exemption for Medical Reasons – For residents who are either not able to meet their weekly bag limit, or who require an additional privacy bag, due to waste generated from medical or health related situations of a resident of the property.
Bag Limit Exemption for Multiple Unit Properties – For properties that have a registered accessory apartment. This application must be completed every year for continued service.
Waste Collection Rebate for Condominiums – For private waste collection for a residential condominium corporation that does not use curbside garbage collection.

Application for Diaper Exemption

The County of Dufferin will consider making an exemption to the weekly bag limit for residents who have 2 or more infants/children under the age of 4 that are in diapers. Approved applicants will receive bag tags to cover 1 extra garbage bag (to be filled with diapers only) for a period of 6 months. An application must be completed every six months for continued service.

Information Collection

Personal information requested on this form is collected as a necessary part of the administration of Waste Services by the County of Dufferin pursuant to its legal authority as set out in the Municipal Act, 2001. Collection, use and confidentiality of the personal information will be according to the standards of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the information will be used for the purpose of verification of eligibility for specialized set out service programming only. Application for Medical Exemption

The County of Dufferin will consider exempting residents who are either not able to meet their weekly bag limit, or who require an additional privacy bag, due to waste generated from a medical or health related situation of a resident of that property. Approved applicants will receive bag tags to cover 1 extra garbage bag or privacy bag a week for a period of 6 months. An application must be completed every six months for continued service.

Increase of 1 garbage bag to the weekly bag/container limit. Only wastes from the medical condition will be placed in the extra clear bag/container, with bag tag affixed.

Increase of 1 privacy bag within each bag placed out for collection. Only wastes from the medical condition will be placed in the extra privacy bag, with the special bag tag affixed to the outer clear garbage bag/container.

Application for Registered Accessory Apartments

The County of Dufferin will provide bag tags to properties that have a registered accessory apartment. Approved applicants will receive bag tags to cover 1 (one) garbage bag a week, per extra unit, for a period of 12 (twelve) months. An application must be completed every year for continued service.

Rebate for Residential Condominium Corporations

The County of Dufferin will consider providing a rebate toward the cost of private waste collection for a residential condominium corporation that does not use curbside garbage collection.

To be eligible, the residential condominium corporation must:
• Participate in the County’s Green Bin program, the Blue Box program offered by Circular Materials, as well as other programs where applicable for special collection wastes.
• Make its intention to apply known no later than January 20th of the calendar year for which the rebate will apply (Section 3 of this form)
• Submit copies of invoices for the previous calendar year by January 20th (Section 2 of this form)
