Incorporated on January 1, 1853, the Township of Melancthon is a rural community located in the northwest corner of Dufferin County, north and west of the Town of Shelburne. Key arterial roads include County Road 124, Highway 10, and Highway 89. The township covers approximately 31,264 hectares and features a road network of about 400 kilometers. Melancthon includes three hamlets: Horning’s Mills, Corbetton, and Riverview. Known for its unique survey method, the township’s primary occupation is farming, with a significant focus on potato cultivation and marketing. It also hosts various on-farm businesses, including manufacturing shops. Notably, Melancthon was the first municipality in Ontario to approve and construct a large wind farm, now home to 167 wind turbines.
