Child Care Fee Subsidy

Visit the Early Years and Child Care portal to create an account.

If you are unable to use the Early Years and Child Care portal or need assistance creating your account, please contact childcarefeesubsidy@dufferincounty.ca or contact 519-941-6991 ext. 2223.

After creating an account, you can complete the Child Care Fee subsidy application.

You will be required to upload the following documents, if applicable:

• Identification – the following is a list of acceptable forms of identification: birth certificate (if born in Canada): Canadian Passport; green Ontario Health card; or Immigration, Permanent Resident or Citizenship documentation if born outside of Canada
• Income Verification – Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the most recent tax year or Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the most recent tax year
• If applicable – Most recent Ontario Works / ODSP stub or Pre-Bankruptcy and Post-Bankruptcy Notice of Assessment from CRA for the same tax year (Applicants to call Canada Revenue Agency at 1-800-959-8281 to request a copy of their Notice of Assessment and/or Canada Child Benefit Notice.)
• Employment Verification – 2 current consecutive pay stubs or Letter of employment, if you are returning to work or starting new employment
• Student Verification – School registration and timetable
• For those self-employed – Business Registration or Papers of Incorporation or Master Business license; Notice of Assessment for Income Tax based on most recent taxation year; Business Plan to verify viability of Business; Statement of Planned/Completed Business Hours and Activities; Statement of Projected/Earned Business Income and Expenses; Personal Tax Return as submitted to Revenue Canada (most recent taxation year). An Early Years & Child Care representative will review your application and documents. You will be contacted to discuss your application and eligibility.

Yes, you can apply as soon as you are able to provide identification for your child (example: statement of live birth, birth certificate, or valid green health card). Please include your month/year of return on your application.

Yes, you can apply as soon as you expect you will require child care. You may be looking for a child care space at the same time as applying for subsidy.

If you have verification of your new address within Dufferin County (example: rental agreement, mortgage statement/real estate purchase documents) you may apply for child care fee subsidy in Dufferin County. However, you cannot receive subsidy through Dufferin County until the date of your move.

If you are moving out of Dufferin County, you will need to apply for child care fee subsidy in the region you are moving to. If you are already receiving child care fee subsidy, you must notify your community services worker, and your subsidy with Dufferin will end on the day that you move.

Dufferin County does have agreements with some neighboring regions in order to allow families accessing child care fee subsidy in Dufferin to access child care in other areas. This is dealt with on a case by case basis, and may not always be available depending on the status of subsidy and child care spaces in other regions.
