Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Council of every municipality having a population of more than 10,000 people is required to establish an accessibility advisory committee, made up of members of the public. The committee advises council about the requirements and implementation of accessible standards.
Pursuant to the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee shall:
- advise the respective Councils about the requirements and implementation of accessibility standards and the preparation of accessibility reports and such other matters for which Council may seek its advice
- review in a timely manner the site plans and drawings described in section 41 of the Planning Act that the committee selects; and
- perform all other functions that are specified in the regulations
