The County of Dufferin is working in partnership with the Ministry of Education to support frontline workers in Dufferin County by providing access to licensed child care at no cost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, December 21, 2020, the Premier of Ontario announced Safer at Home Restrictions for the next 28 days and ordered a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19. One such action is, starting December 26, 2020, all elementary schools, publicly-funded and private, will be closed for in-person learning.
As updated on January 7, 2021, students enrolled in publicly-funded schools will move to virtual learning until January 29, 2021.
Child Care will remain open for the duration of the time-limited public health actions. During the time period that the elementary schools are operating virtually licensed care centres are prohibited from serving school-aged children therefore, the Ministry of Education has implemented Targeted Emergency Child Care (ECC) for School-Aged Children at no cost to eligible parents. A list of those individuals eligible for Emergency Child Care can be found here.
