The building permit application process for residents of Dufferin County is now electronic. Apply for permits, check the status of applications and request inspections – all from the comfort of home!
To help residents navigate the permit application process, the County has created video tutorials on creating a profile and applying. All applications are required to be submitted through the online Portal system, which can be found here.
“In alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan goal of improving governance and service delivery, the Building Services Division is working to improve our customer service by simplifying the permit application process,” says Becky MacNaughtan, Chief Building Official, Dufferin County. “We encourage anyone in our community who is thinking about potential home projects to watch the new video tutorial to learn more about permit applications in Dufferin County. Now fully electronic, the process is easy and convenient, and you can track your permit progress along the way!”

About the Building Services Division
The Building Services Division provides services to seven municipalities in Dufferin County, encompassing approximately 1,470.7 square kilometres: Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur and Shelburne. The team ensures all buildings defined under the Ontario Building Code comply with the minimum standards set by the Province. It protects health, safety and general welfare in the community related to the construction and occupancy of buildings and structures.
