Yard Waste Season Begins in April in Dufferin County
It’s nearly yard waste season! Yard waste will be collected in Dufferin County beginning in April.
Yard waste collection will begin the week of April 1 in Orangeville and in rural areas. Yard waste collection will begin the week of April 8 in the urban areas of Grand Valley and Shelburne and rural subdivisions including Mansfield, Mansfield Ski Hill Area, Horning’s Mills, Bretton Estates and Marsville. A yard waste map can be found on the Dufferin County website here.
Collection begins on the Monday of designated collection weeks and continues until the entire collection area is completed, which may take a few days and be collected on a different day than your regularly scheduled waste collection day.
Residents are asked to place yard waste at the curb by Monday at 7 am of their scheduled week to ensure collection.
Residents in rural areas are reminded that yard waste is collected on a monthly call-in basis. To be added to the list, residents in rural areas must contact GFL at 1-888-941-3345 ext. 1 at least one week in advance.
Yard waste will be collected until November.

Noxious weeds (ex. giant hogweed, wild parsnip, garlic mustard, etc.) are not accepted in the County’s green bin or yard waste collection programs and should be handled with care. Noxious weeds are considered garbage and have additional rules for disposal:
- Material must be double bagged in clear garbage bags
- Once bagged, residents are asked to leave bags in the sun for one week
- Following the County’s garbage collection program, one bag of garbage is allowed per week. Any bags of noxious weeds that exceed the one bag limit will require a garbage bag tag. Garbage tags cost $2 and a complete list of vendors are found here. For safety reasons, please notify GFL prior to collection at 1-888-941-3345 ext.1
- Bags can also be taken to the transfer station after being left in the sun for at least one week. A per bag disposal charge will apply. Please call the GFL Transfer Station to notify them of the disposal (519-943-0101). Residents are asked to bring the material first thing in the morning. The GFL Transfer Station is located at 473051 County Road 11, Orangeville
