If you live in rural Dufferin, you will require a civic address or "emergency number". This 6-digit number uses a grid system to pinpoint the location of your driveway - within 10 metres!

If you live in rural Dufferin, you must apply for a civic address (also known as an emergency number).

The number assigned to this entrance will be determined by its location relative to the entire length of the road. You MUST provide accurate measurements. Only one of the following measurements is required (Option A or Option B) however having both ensures that we accurately locate your entrance.

Option A: Measurement from the middle of your entrance to the closest visible Emergency Number sign.

The 6-digit number does NOT legitimize the existence of an entrance to a property. Contact your local municipality for information on entrance approvals. If you indicated that you are/have applied for a Building Permit, we will call you as soon as your new number is issued. Please allow minimum of one week for processing.

Dufferin County offers secure online payment processing, please visit our Payment Portal by clicking the words Dufferin County Online Payments below and select the items you wish to purchase.
PAYMENTS BY CHEQUE:
Cheques are made payable to the County of Dufferin. Payments must include a copy of your completed application. Cheques can be mailed or dropped off to Dufferin County, Attn: Public Works Department, 30 Centre Street, Orangeville ON L9W 2X1. Regular business hours: Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm (excluding holidays).

Payment in full must be made prior to any service commencing. All returned payments will be subject to a $20.00 NSF fee.

The personal information collected on this form is collected under the authority of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. and will be used for the proper administration of issuing Emergency Numbers. If you indicated that you are/have applied for a Building Permit, we will call you as soon as your new number is issued. Please allow minimum of one week for processing. Pick up is by appointment only at the Dufferin County Operations Center located at: 635666 Highway 10, Mono ON. or at W & M Edelbrock Centre, 30 Centre Street, Orangeville Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm excluding holidays.

Pick Up Location
You will be contacted when your order is ready for pick up from the front service desk at the Edelbrock Center located at 30 Centre St. Orangeville. Open hours Mon-Fri, 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
